2004 - 2005 Season.

June 6th 2004:
In 2002 the Jervis Bay Gamefishing Club initiated proceedings to have Southern Bluefin Tuna returned to the GFAA eligible species list. As of the 1st of June 2004 they were eligible for T/R and capture point scores.

On the 6th June 2004, local Jervis Bay boat “Juzrah” went out over the JB canyons and found SBTs busting up, getting a five way hook up on jumbos, losing four when the lures slid up the leaders and were bitten again by the the SBTs that missed the initial hook up. Two of the jumbos they saw eat the corner lures were estimated at 120-150kgs, and the small one they landed went 75kgs on 37kg for a new NSWGFA Record for Martin Shaliapin. It was hooked on a JB Lures "Cur", later after they'd re-rigged the 60kg and 37kg chair rods, they hooked and landed a 120kg SBT on a JB Lures Bloodhound (smaller models are called Smoking Guns, available since 2012) on 60kg, it should have been a new GFAA and NSWGFA record but unfortunately the Momoi Hi Test line didn't test when sent to the GFAA for the record application, even though it did break well under 60kg when it was tested by Momoi in Japan, Gates Rubber in Nowra on their machine and the IGFA in the USA (averaging 51-55 kg when tested), unfortunately you cannot dispute the GFAA's weighmaster's decisions.
